For those who work for companies that support charities with corporate matches, CEF is a qualifying charity.
Funds raised go to our schools for innovative curriculum enhancements in the areas of basic reading, math and science, writing and literature, foreign languages, arts, social studies, history and more.
The vounteer phone callers will be prepared to share more about CEF and its support of our children’s education in Camas. Please consider making a donation; every penny is appreciated.

Our Camas School District middle school students were recently provided the opportunity by our food service provider, Sodexo, in conjunction with our health services staff to participate in “Cook It Up Healthy Challenge!” Students submitted recipes and finalists prepared their creations for judging. The theme was “Heart-Healthy Breakfast” and selection criteria included heart healthy, easy to follow, originality and likely appeal. Leona Yazdidoust, a 7th grade student here at Skyridge was the Grand Prize winner! Prize recipients included:

For the third consecutive year, Skyridge is proud to announce that we are a recipient of the Washington State Achievement Award. This year we are recognized for overall excellence and an additional recognition in the area of science. When considering that one of the criteria measures our improvement from last year’s already impressive results, this is truly a remarkable accomplishment. The Washington Achievement Award is a joint venture of the Washington State Board of Education and the Officce of Superintendent of Public Instruction and is awarded to the top five percent of schools as measured by the Washington Achievement index.
Thank you to our Camas Educational Foundation for providing Skyridge with a $1,500 mini-grant! Congratulations to Ms. Gayle Cooper and our students as they move forward in creating a Native Garden for us to enjoy. This project will be completed in connection with our 7th grade Washington State history curriculum. Students will research native plants which Lewis and Clark identified in their journals and then plan, design and create a garden of native plants for our school. This project will be planned and implemented through various stages in conjuction with Clark County and Washington State agencies. The process will include having math students establish the design and measurements by applying their geometry skills, having our student body vote on the best design, and science classes grow the plants and work on irrigation, the soil and fertilizer balance, as well as sun and shade plant needs. Studying the types of native plants to Washington and following the journey of Lewis and Clark will enrich the 7th grade studies of Washington State history and provide an on-going opportunity for all to enjoy.

Camas Middle Schools are gearing up to send students to Poland this summer through our Sister City Exchange Program. Our first informational meeting will be held Tuesday, February 21 at Liberty Middle School. Students and families are encouraged to join us in the library at 7:00 PM to hear more about this unique opportunity.
The Sister City Exchange Program has been active in Camas for over 30 years! We have a rich cultural relationship with our Sister Cities in both Japan and more recently Poland. This year, we are excited to take 10-12 students, along with district and parent chaperones, to the southern part of Poland near Krakow. This ten day exchange will provide a rich educational and cultural experience that will not only build positive relationships, but provide a life changing experience for our participating middle school students.
The tentative dates for this year’s exchange are June 21 through July 1. Information regarding trip expenses, travel details and our agenda will be discussed at our February 21 meeting.
We look forward to providing this amazing experience for our students and sharing more about this rich experience!
