Incoming 6th Grade Student Transition

We are looking forward to having our future 6th grade students join us here at Skyridge next year. Preparations are currently happening to make this transition a smooth and enjoyable experience for our new Sky Hawks! All parents/guardians of these current 5th grade students are invited to an informational parent meeting on Tuesday, May 29, 6:30-7:30 PM in our main Skyridge gym.

Incoming 6th grade student visits/tours are scheduled as follows: 

  • Dorothy Fox – Wednesday, May 30, 10:30-11:30 AM
  • Prune Hill – Thursday, May 31, 10:00-11:00 AM
  • Grass Valley – Tuesday, June 5, 1:45-2:45 PM

 

Interest Form Now Available for Advanced Classes

The Camas School District offers a Pre-Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) program for Language Arts and Social Studies (LA/SS) and Advanced Math at the middle-school level. Both programs reflect high academic expectations and are available for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. Click the link below to read more and complete the interest form.

Skyridge Science Olympiad Team Attends State Competition

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On April 14 our Science Olympiad Team competed against the top 20 middle school teams in Washington State. Overall, our team took 13th place with most of our students earning a medal in at least one of their events which included:  Microbe Mission, Keep the Heat, Magnetic Levitation, and Rockets. Good job, Sky Hawks!

Camas Athletic Booster Club Safeway Fundraiser

When you use your Safeway Card for discounts on groceries etc. not only do you receive a benefit but you can help the Camas Athletic Boosters also.  When you are signed up with the Boosters, Safeway Corporate will give back a small percentage of what you spend each month.  There is no cost to you and you won’t be solicited or have your information given out.  We are asking for your name and Safeway Card Number.  Your email and/or phone are optional if you might be interested in working with the Boosters.The Camas Athletic Boosters provide monies for equipment, uniforms and other athletic expenses for Camas School District Athletics.  They have donated more than $30,000 to Skyridge and Liberty in the last three years alone.

Athletes/Students- We are asking you to get at least three (3) signups.  The cards are available in the main office at Skyridge.  If you can get more please do so.  Talk to your relatives or neighbors.

Skyridge Track Starts on April 9

Time to get excited about Skyridge Track! The season starts right after Spring Break. Everyone participates and you can choose up to 4 events to compete in. Be sure and get your paperwork in early. This year will be special. Skyridge and Liberty will be hosting the GSHMSL Track Championships at Doc Harris Stadium on May 31. This event will be attended by all 8 schools that make up our legue; Skyridge, Liberty, Shahala, Cascaee, Wy’East, Pacific, Frontier and Covington. If you want to be part of a great team, sign up now. Mrs. Button has all of the information you need in the main office.

Camas Education Foundation

The 10th annual Camas Educational Foundation Phone-A-Thon is being held Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday, February 21 – 23 from 6:30-8:30 PM at the District Offices. Studetn and adult volunteers will call household in the Camas School District to ask for financial support.

CEF has raised more than $177,000 in the events’ first nine years. This year they are hoping to raise $18.000 and are looking for corporate or individual donors to match pledges received over the phone. For those who work for companies that support charities with corporate matches, CEF is a qualifying charity.

Funds raised go to our schools for innovative curriculum enhancements in the areas of basic reading, math and science, writing and literature, foreign languages, arts, social studies, history and more.

The vounteer phone callers will be prepared to share more about CEF and its support of our children’s education in Camas. Please consider making a donation; every penny is appreciated.

Our Camas School District middle school students were recently provided the opportunity by our food service provider, Sodexo, in conjunction with our health services staff to participate in “Cook It Up Healthy Challenge!” Students submitted recipes and finalists prepared their creations for judging. The theme was “Heart-Healthy Breakfast” and selection criteria included heart healthy, easy to follow, originality and likely appeal. Leona Yazdidoust, a 7th grade student here at Skyridge was the Grand Prize winner! Prize recipients included:
