Camas schools will close 3 hours early today due to inclement weather. There will be no PM Kindergarten, PM Preschool, or afternoon/evening activities (this includes all athletic events and practices). Students will be released from Skyridge at 11:45 AM today after having lunch. The scheduled parent information meeting for travel to Poland which was scheduled for this evening will be rescheduled.
Knowledge Bowl is kind of like a team Jeopardy competition. Our Knowledge Bowl team consists of 3 or more smaller teams which compete against other teams from neighboring schools. Trivia topics include math, science, history, English and social studies. Practice begins on Monday, February 3, and will be held Monday-Thursday from 3:15-4:00 PM in Room 206. Make sure you have your paperwork turned into Mrs. Button in our main office before participating.
That’s right – the CEF Auction never sleeps. Believe it or not, preparations for the 2014 Auction are well underway. In fact, the date and venue have already been secured, but one piece is missing: a co-chair for the committee. Or maybe we should say a dynamic co-chairing duo. Three-year alum Mandy Huth has committed to co-chairing this year’s auction in a supporting role, but she needs a person who will take over the reins. If you have been looking for a good way to get seriously involved in fundraising in Camas, this may be the job for you! See this job description for more detail about what’s involved, and contact Mandy at email@example.com if you are at all curious.
Here at Skyridge we are fortunate to have an incredible PTO that support our students and staff in countless ways throughout the school year!
Their efforts include, but are not limited to, various fundraisers providing annual PTO grants to Skyridge which directly support student learning, providing spirit wear purchase opportunities, volunteering throughout the year for school and classroom events and activities, supporting our athletic and extracurricular activities programs, providing staff appreciation treats and recognition, and providing classroom supplies mid-year. This year they took on improving our large front entry planters and are supporting a native garden project which is currently being developed.
If you would like to get involved, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and get connected
with other Skyridge parents, staff and students!
The Skyridge Girls’ Basketball team took to the hardwood for their season opener and walked away with 4 wins. The Skyridge sweep was more impressive. The teams combined scores almost toppled into the double century mark…. with 196 points scored, the Skyridge Girls lit up the board draining bucket after bucket. Great hustle and unselfish team play rounded out the effort and made for a dynamic display of athleticism by Skyridge. Go Hawks!
Camas Middle Schools are gearing up to send students to Poland this summer through our Sister City Exchange Program. An informational meeting will be held Thursday, February 6. Students and families are encouraged to join in the Liberty Middle School library at 7 PM to hear more about this unique opportunity.
The Sister City Exchange Program has been active in Camas for over 30 years. This year, 10-12 students along with district and parent chaperones will travel to the southern part of Poland near Krakow. Tentative dates for this year’s trip are June 18-28. Information regarding trip expenses and details will be discussed at the February 6 meeting.

Parents who wish to pick up students can do so now. All after school athletics and activities are cancelled.
