Camas Middle Schools are gearing up to send students to Poland this summer through our Sister City Exchange Program. Our first informational meeting will be held Tuesday, February 21 at Liberty Middle School. Students and families are encouraged to join us in the library at 7:00 PM to hear more about this unique opportunity.
The Sister City Exchange Program has been active in Camas for over 30 years! We have a rich cultural relationship with our Sister Cities in both Japan and more recently Poland. This year, we are excited to take 10-12 students, along with district and parent chaperones, to the southern part of Poland near Krakow. This ten day exchange will provide a rich educational and cultural experience that will not only build positive relationships, but provide a life changing experience for our participating middle school students.
The tentative dates for this year’s exchange are June 21 through July 1. Information regarding trip expenses, travel details and our agenda will be discussed at our February 21 meeting.
We look forward to providing this amazing experience for our students and sharing more about this rich experience!

This year we are excited with the response from students and families for our Language Arts/Social Studies Pre-AP Class offerings. All students who have met the qualifications and received their notification letter, which will be mailed by the end of June, are required to complete a summer project by the first day of school, September 6, 2011. No late work will be accepted.
Summer projects are a fantastic way for students and their teachers to start the year off ready to discuss and learn together. The Pre-AP Language Arts/Social Studies class is structured to be an integrated learning environment, meaning students will practice and improve reading and writing skills through the content of history and social studies. The Summer Project is designed to prepare students for their first unit of study. Required reading is available at the public library, local bookstores and via the internet. Have a fantastic summer, we look forward to seeing some great Summer Projects September 6!
Join the fun, experience Pacific Northwest natural landscapes, and get some exercise all in the name of supporting Camas kids!
