Robotics is a hands on course that teaches how to problem solve while creatively thinking outside the box. Students will complete a variety of tasks using the Lego Mindstorm system. Tasks are broken into two major categories – the Lego build and the application of the programming software on a small Windows computer. There will be some coding involved in the programming of the software to move our robots in a variety of ways. Students will work in groups to brainstorm possibilities, test and modify their robot. Possible projects might be to have your robot navigate through an obstacle course, build catapults or play a game of robot soccer.
Skyridge is proud to offer its very own Robotics Club. Students will learn the system in the club – so no experience is necessary. Robotics Club is open to all students – but with priority given to 6th and 7th grade to learn the system and build our competition team for next fall. Applications are also available in the main office and found at the link below.
