HOST FAMILIES NEEDED FOR JAPANESE VISITORS
This October we have the pleasure of hosting twenty middle school aged Japanese visitors from our Sister City of Taki, Japan. The students will be spending time at Skyridge and Liberty during their visit, and will have the opportunity to take some field trips to showcase our great community and surrounding area. As a host, this provides a great opportunity to have your child gain a global perspective by spending a few days with students their age from the other side of the Pacific. Your child will get a chance to take the visitors to class with them and to attend some field trips in the area as well. Hosts from years past have seen this as a great and unique opportunity to experience a new culture first hand and build global connections.
The Japanese visitors will be here from October 9th-October 13th, and we are looking for hosts who could house our visitors for the duration of their stay. Typically we have each family host two students, as having a familiar companion around this makes the transition easier for our visitors (we do have two groups of three this year). In addition to overnight needs, hosts are responsible for providing transportation and meals for the students during their visit, as well as taking an active role in showcasing our community to our visitors. On weekdays, the Japanese students will participate in activities that run the length of the school day (8:00-2:45), and then will return to their host family after school.
