PALS Book Fair

This is an excellent opportunity to support your young reader! Reading is a key factor in a student’s school success, so at Lacamas we want to encourage reading! The book fair will open November 4th-8th during lunch recess all week long,Wednesday from 12:00-2:00 and during our Family Reading and Movie Night.

Grand’s Breakfast: November 4th

To kick off our Book Fair, we’re inviting our grandparents and anyone who is grand in your child’s life to come and eat breakfast with us. Grand’s Breakfast is Monday, November 4thfrom 8:30-9:00. Please RSVP by this Wednesday.

Veterans’ Day Assembly: November 6th

November 6th, Lacamas honors our Veterans at 11:00 with our Veterans’ Day Assembly. Please join us as we remember those who served our country. Immediately following our assembly will be a reception for all our visiting Veterans.

Family Reading and Movie Night: November 7th

November 7th, we wrap up our All School Read: “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” with a Family Reading and Movie Night from 5:00-8:00. At 5:00, your child’s classroom will be open for you to stop in and participate in a reading activity. The Book fair will open at 4:30 and stay open the whole night for families. And at 6:00, we will all gather in the gym to end our school wide reading and watch the original movie, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”.

The annual Lacamas PALS Halloween Carnival

Saturday, October 26 from 4 to 7!

Invite your friends and neighbors and come have some fun at this family-friendly event!

Cost is $2/person when you buy your tickets by Wednesday, October 23 or $3/person at the door. Once you’re in the door, walk the cake walk, play bingo, get spooked in the haunted hallway and play all the carnival games you want!

Dress up for our costume contest and bring a decorated pumpkin for the pumpkin contest!

There also will be food to purchase and door prizes!

We also need CANDY DONATIONS (bags of small, individually wrapped candy). Please drop off your donation in the office cauldron or send it in with your student to their teacher by Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Each family is receiving a copy of our All School Read with a book mark sharing our reading schedule and school wide ACTIVE Reading Strategies. We are excited to join together as a Lacamas Community to read this classic story celebrating its 50th Birthday with us! After reading for the month of October, November 7th we will host our Family Reading Night. This will be a special event where we will come together, participate in some reading activities, visit the Book Fair and wrap up our All School Read event by showing the original “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” movie.

Challenging and fun! Build machines with motors and learn about gears and pulleys. Make cars that drive & robots that move.

Lego Jr. – Blueprints and Buildings

Grades: K-1

Design your masterpiece, and then create it! Each day your architect will be given a building project that they must first design using graph paper, and then build with Legos. Examples of projects include a picture frame, watermelon, and balloon powered car.

Success through Chess

Grades: K-5

Develop critical and creative thinking skills while having fun learning the game of chess! We have a comprehensive program appropriate for all students, who will progress at their own rate. Instruction includes the critical principles, tactics, and strategies as well as “Success Secrets” applicable both to academics and to life!
