Jostens gave a senior presentation on January 12th going over the ordering information for graduation announcements, class rings, cap and gowns, as well as other senior items. 

Jostens will be her on Thursday, January 26th, to pick up order forms and help with any questions, you might have.  Ordering now guarantees the lower price, items being in stock, as well as not having to put a deposit down. Orders placed after this date might be subject to higher prices and payment in full. Order forms can be dropped off at the front desk, or you can order on-line .  Online orders will require a deposit.

If purchasing a cap and gown becomes a problem for your family, please contact Kristi Thomas at 360-833-5600. Remember, no deposit is required at this time, so please get your order in.

Graduation is a tremendous accomplishment and we wish all our soon-to-be graduates great success.

 

Order and Personalize your 2022-23 HFHS Yearbook

Yearbooks can only be purchased through the Picaboo site.  You will NOT be able to order through school until the end of the year when we have a small extra supply.

Order online now through May 5th.  You can also choose to personalize 4 pages and the back cover for FREE! 

Order a hardcover yearbook for $35 or softcover for $25. It will be delivered to you at school in June, before graduation.

SENIORS : Please submit your preferred yearbook portrait HERE  by April 28th, or your school ID photo will be used.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF SENIORS : If you are interested in purchasing a Senior Ad in the yearbook to celebrate your student’s accomplishments. 

 Cost: Options : 1/4 page=$10, 1/2 page=$20, full page layout=$30.

Interested in Playing Sports?

Many students and families do not know that Hayes Freedom students can play sports through Camas High School.  If you are interested in a sport, you can inquire at the front desk of Hayes or you can visit the Camas High School website and review the athletics link for full information on sporting seasons and registration forms. Students are required to purchase a Hayes Freedom ASB card, as well as pay the athletic fee to CHS.   The Hayes Freedom front office receives daily updates on schedules for all athletic events at CHS and works with our students that are participating.  A shuttle bus is available to pick student athletes up from Hayes and take them to CHS for practices and games.  If you have any questions, please contact Kristi Thomas at 360-833-5600.

Back to School Information

Please see the below that was sent out via Parent Square on Tuesday, August 16th.  

Greetings from the front office of Hayes Freedom High School! We hope that you have had an enjoyable and safe summer. We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new families and students.  We are excited for you to join us. For our existing students and families, we are looking forward to seeing you back at Hayes for the 2022-23 school year. 

This post is packed with information to help get this year off to a smooth start! Please be sure to review this post entirely and complete any necessary forms that are linked. There are also some helpful documents and a Camas School District “Welcome Back” letter attached.

First Day of School:  Monday, August 29th!!

Current Office Hours: Our office is now open from 8:00 am -2:00 pm. While we still encourage communication to be done remotely, appointments and walk-ins are welcome. 

Office Closed, August 23rd & 24th: Our office will close at 12:30 on Tuesday for a district meeting.  We will also be closed on Wednesday until 12:30 for a district wide training.

Daily School Schedule: We are still finalizing our bell schedule and will post it on our website when it is complete, but start time will be 8:50 AM and end time will be between 3:20 PM.

Student Drop In Days:  
9th grade and new students only/Thursday, August 25th at 11:00 am-12:00 pm.   This day will consist of students having a short tour of the school (please arrived at 11:00) as well as pick up their schedules if they would like a hard copy. Schedules will we visible on Skyward by this day as well.  They will also be able to ask some general questions they might have.  

Returning students/Thursday, August 25th at 1:00 pm- 3:00 pm.    
We wanted to have a time that returning students could stop by to pick up a copy of their schedule if needed and ask any questions they might have or just say hi! Schedules will we visible on Skyward by this day as well.

*** Please be aware that teachers might not be available on these student drop in days, as they will be in trainings at various times.  Parents will get the opportunity to meet/chat with teachers during our Open House night on September 29 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.  Email communication is always welcomed.  Also, if there is any request to change scheduled classes, your student will discuss this with their Advocacy teacher the first few days of school.

School items for purchase  (ASB-$5,  Parking-$5,  Chromebook Assurance-$20): 
All items can be paid for ONLINE through Skyward. The normal fee charged for paying online is being waived this year.  You can also pay for items at the front office with cash or check on the above day, but it does get busy and paying online will save you time.  You are also able to pay in the front office after school starts as well.

Lunch Deposits & Finger Scan:   This can be done during our student drop in day, in the commons.  Payment at school is by cash or check.  If you wish to pay online you can set up a mealtime account.  See the attached flyer.

Parking Pass:  In addition to purchasing a parking pass, students will need to complete this ONLINE FORM and upload a picture of their valid driver’s license.  If you have trouble uploading a picture, they can bring a copy to the front office or we can make a copy for them.  In addition we have hard copies of the parking form at the front desk. 

Yearbooks:  We are currently reviewing the new yearbook company that recently purchased Picaboo.  Once we have decided if they are still the right company to use for yearbooks, we will send out a post on how to order as well as cost.

Picture Day:  Picture day will be Tuesday, September 6th.  Please click HERE for the online ordering information and see the flyer below.  Even if you are not purchasing pictures it will be important for your student to be photographed.  They will receive their ID card this day and this will be the picture used in the yearbook. (Seniors, you will receive information on how to submit senior pictures for the yearbook at a later time).  Picture retakes will not be until October 17th.  We also have picture ordering forms at the front desk.

Chromebook Assurance:  This is not mandatory, but highly recommended.  The fee is $20.  Please click HERE for the overview.  Coverage must be purchased by the October 13th or you will be considered an opt-out. Pay ONLINE or at the front desk.

Student Health Inventory:  This form is important and needs to be complete each year.  Please click HERE to complete.  If you are new to the district you completed one of these in your registration packet and do NOT need to do another one.

Walking Permission Form & Student Handbook Review Form:

Free and Reduced Meals:  Due to changes in Federal funding, meals for the 2022-2023 school year will no longer be offered at no cost to all students. Families will be responsible for full meal costs unless they are approved for free meals or reduced cost meals. Free or reduced meal applications need to be submitted each year, even if you qualified in previous school years. Parents are responsible for any meal charges made prior to an application being processed and approved. Also, timely submission of an application is very important. Benefits can only begin after the application has been processed and approved which can take up to 10 days.
Important: Washington Income Guidelines have changed creating more opportunities for CSD families. As an example, a family of four with a yearly gross income of $51,338 or less qualifies for free meals.
How to apply for Free & Reduced Meal Service (can take up to 10 days to process):

  2. Pick up an application at your student’s school, Zellerbach Administration Center (841 NE 22nd Avenue, Camas, WA 98607) or online here: Free & Reduced Meal Application 2022-2023 – Free and Reduced Meals
  3. Complete and return to tamara.westmoreland@camas.wednet.edu, hand deliver to Zellerbach Administration Center, or mail to Zellerbach Administration Center (841 NE 22nd Avenue, Camas, WA 98607)
  4. Applications can also be accessed and submitted through Skyward Family Access – log in, click Food Service tab on left, then click on Application link in upper right (This option is not accessible to parents until Skyward is opened for each school)

Other Benefits to Free & Reduced Meal Qualification:  
Families are strongly encouraged to complete a meal benefits form for other discounts and offers that will support their child’s educational experience. We want to help and the State requires completed meal benefit forms for assistance programs. Students who qualify for meal benefits are also eligible for discounted rates on:

  • Athletic fees
  • Club fees
  • District technology fees
  • School-age childcare (SAC)
  • AP tests
  • SAT/ACT tests

Applying and qualifying for meal benefits can also help students with:

  • Financial aid (FAFSA, EFC – Expected Family Contribution)
  • Scholarship opportunities
  • Free wireless hotspots from the 10 Million Project

Participation in the free or reduced meal program helps support students and staff, as well as qualifies the Camas School District for federal funds including:

  • Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program eligibility
  • Eligibility for severe need rates
  • National School Lunch Program equipment grants
  • Teacher loan forgiveness
  • ESEA Programs: Title I, Part A; Title II, Part A; Title V

Fees & Fines Waiver Consent:  In order to qualify for having school fees and fines waived or reduced, you must first qualify for the free/reduced lunch program, discussed above, or the College Bound Scholarship Program.  In addition, we are required to have the waiver consent form completed. Chromebook issue or new student to the district:  These can be picked up during the student drop in day or the first day of school at the front desk.
 
Chromebook login issues:  Returning students having issues with their password, should try their full date of birth in this form 02022003 for 02/02/2003.  Log in name is always first.last@csd117.org  If issue continue, please reach out to the front desk for help.  If a Chromebook is broken, please bring to the front desk, so we can check out a loaner and get the broken one fixed.

Sports:  Student that attend Hayes are able to play sports at Camas High School.  You must purchase an ASB card from Hayes along with completing  CHS athletic registration forms.   Click HERE for the athletics bulletin.

Sports Shuttle to CHS for practice, bus #86 departs from Hayes at 3:10.  If your student is participating in a sport, please have them check in with the front desk, so we can help manage pickup times for games, etc.

School Bus Transportation:  Routes will be completed around August 22nd.  You will be able to retrieve  your student’s bus info HERE.  Students share the CHS bus in the morning.  The bus drops at CHS first. Our students stay on the bus and get brought to Hayes.  In the afternoon, if you live in the Skyridge zone, students will take shuttle bus #83 from the front of Hayes to Skyridge, then change to their assigned bus.  If you live in the Liberty zone, students will walk next door around 3:35 to catch their assigned bus from Liberty bus area in the back. If you have questions, please call 360-833-5600. If your student is unsure of busing on the first day of school, please be sure they come to the front desk during the day for help.  If they wait until after school, they run the risk of missing the bus.

Cascadia Tech Bus Transportation:  Cascadia students will be picked up by bus #87 in front of Hayes at 7:01 and depart sharply at 7:08 am. They will be brought back to Hayes after classes at Cascadia.

C-Trans Bus Passes: If you are in need of a C-trans student bus pass, please contact Kristi Thomas at 360-833-5600 to make arrangements. Applications are at the front desk as well as attached below.

Office Opens August 15

11/4/20  Senior Families- we wanted to get some important senior event dates to you. As the end of the year approaches you will receive additional emails, but we know it is helpful for planning to have these dates as soon as possible.  We will try to stick to this schedule as best as possible, but due to ongoing COVID conditions, things can change based on school status (remote or hybrid).

The Camas Grad Night Committee has senior lawn signs for sell for $15.  Click HERE to order.

Show your pride and say congrats to your senior with a graduation lawn sign.  Signs will be available for pickup in mid-April.  Order by March 31st.

TREX Recycling Program

Hayes is proud to be offering plastic bag/wrap recycling.  Recycle your household bags and wrap into Trex’s Earth-friendly composite decking and railing.  Bring any approved plastic films in to Hayes for recycling.
