Energy Star Certified
Grass Valley Elementary School is a member of the District’s Energy Star family. Grass Valley earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) ENERGY STAR certification, which signifies that the building performs in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency and meets strict energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA.

Coming to School

Doors are open to children at 8:45 a.m. daily. School begins at 9:00 and ends at 3:30 p.m. each day except Wednesday. Dismissal on Wednesday is at 1:10 p.m.

Early Release

Students are dismissed at 1:10 p.m. on Wednesdays. Teachers use this valuable time to plan and prepare lessons, attend professional trainings, sponsored by the district and, to conduct parent conferences. Instead of having parent conferences scheduled at a certain time during the year, teachers use Wednesdays to meet with parents about student progress.

School Absences

Parents are asked to call the school each day their child is absent. Call 833-5710 to leave the message. Send a note on the day your child returns to school. If he or she is out for a week or more, please send a doctor’s excuse.

Tardiness

Students late to school need to report to the office for an admittance form to class.

School Meals

Students are able to purchase breakfast and lunch at school. Lunch cards may be purchased by in the office. Prices are $1.35 for breakfast and $2.30 for lunch. For students bringing a lunch from home, milk is available for $.60. Adult breakfast is $1.75 and adult lunch is $3.00. Prices are subject to change each school year.

Supplies

Each grade level has a school supply list, which is updated in late spring for the following year. Copies of the list can be picked up in the school office or accessed by clicking the Supply List link on the left side of this page.
